As a player I have performed and recorded in many different styles, from heavyweight prog-rock to traditional acoustic folk. And I’ve done lots (and lots) of gigs, ranging from headlining the main stage at the Edmonton Folk Festival in Canada (audience about 15,000) to the Bridgwater Arts Centre in Somerset (audience about 15).

I spent 10 years playing with the sort-of-bluegrass band Daily Planet, and another 10 with the Afro-Celtic band Baka Beyond, doing gigs throughout the UK and Europe, as well as a dozen tours in North America. And I’ve done gigs and recording for all kinds of other things along the way too, mostly in the folk/roots world, including Stackridge, the late great Jackie Leven, Jim Moray, Zervas and Pepper, Geraint Jarman and many more.

Session work has been equally varied, ranging from the fairly glamorous - eg Oscar-nominated animation, adverts for big companies, drama series on BBC and ITV - through to the, er, slightly less glamorous eg many, many episodes of kids’ cartoons, radio adverts for garden centres and much more.

Perhaps I should also mention the first (and probably last) appearance of the Tim Robinson Band - this took place at Didmarton Bluegrass Festival in 2007. If you missed it, well it was a great gig, I got my name on the posters and everything, but to be honest, once was enough...
